1967/68: Private Joker is one of many young men in a training camp in Parris Island, South Carolina. Their sadistic instructor Sergeant Hartman drills the euphoric soldiers in preparation for the butchering in Vietnam. Private Joker is shocked when he realizes Sergeant Hartman's brutality; but it is just a taste of everything expecting him on his path. From the training camp to the battlefields of Vietnam he changes as he experiences horror and cruelty.
